TRANSFORMATIVE BREATHWORK

HOW DOES IT WORK?

In Transformative Breathwork, it is structured around a two-part breath. It consists of a long inhale (broken up in two parts), followed by an exhale. On the inhale, it is a strong breath at a moderately-fast pace into the lower abdomen, followed by a quick pause. Then a pull of the second half of the inhale (with the same pace and vigor) into the upper chest, followed by another quick pause. Finishing with a fast and strong exhale until complete. Final pause, and then the cycle can begin again. This breathing technique will continue for about 20-30 minutes. It is encouraged to have a stronger fuller breath rhythm for the first 7 minutes of session to gain the full effect of the practice. Transformative Breathwork helps the ego mind move through any resistance it might have around surrendering control. The last section of this process is a rest breath, by stopping the conscious active and rhythmic breath, and surrendering into an unconscious, uncontrolled, and natural breathing rhythm. This is simply done with an inhale and exhale through the nose, or mouth. At this moment, all one needs to do is stay present within their heightened-state experience. Sometimes most of the magic happens here. The body rejuvenates, recalibrates, and heals deeply here.

WHAT DO YOU EXPERIENCE DURING A SESSION?

There is no set or predictable experience during or after a session. Common patterns include tingling sensations, temporary dry mouth, or cramping in the hands. The session may be occasionally uncomfortable due to the emotional content but blissful at the same time. During session, the body will have the chance to release all the built-up energy by letting out a yell, and this is when the magic happens! After this release, there can be tears, laughter, or all the above! There is no structured way of how these emotions pan out, sometimes tears can happen within the first few minutes of breathwork, or right before concluding the session. There is no right or wrong way of doing this, it is simply allowing whatever needs to come out, to come out. Before the session begins, Frances will offer suggestions/modifications for clients to feel most comfortable going through this journey. There is no set or predictable experience during or after a session. DISCLOSURE

During Transformational Breathwork, the deep and connected breathing causes the Co2 levels to drop resulting in less oxygen being released into the bloodstream, tissues, and vital organs; and causes the blood pH to become more alkaline. The combination of lower Co2 levels and a rise in blood pH levels is what leads to tetany. It is common for this to happen, but there is nothing to fear as it is only temporary, and it will go away once you return to normal breathing pattern. Trying a slower, more gentle breathing pattern, and emphasizing a softer exhale will remove some discomfort as it will allow more oxygen to enter the bloodstream. During the first couple of sessions, you may experience some symptoms of hyperventilation.
